MONTEVIDEO.- Chile dio el primer zarpazo en terreno ajeno. Chile rescató el primer resultado positivo de visita en el largo camino hacia Sudáfrica, y lo hizo en un estadio inexpugnable, donde siempre había caído derrotado en duelos por clasificatorias mundialistas. La “Roja” se llevó un empate 2-2 desde Uruguay, y bien pudo ser el triunfo.
Porque Chile vencía 2-1 hasta el minuto 80′, pasando malos momentos eso sí, pero se llevaba una victoria que hacía delirar al puñado de hinchas nacionales que acompañó a la “Roja”. Pero un acierto de Abreu en el corazón del área cerró la cuenta y dejó un sabor un poco amargo en la boca de Marcelo Bielsa y los suyos.

Es el escritor chileno más traducido y uno de los más vendidos. La narrativa chilena contemporánea parece expresar el espíritu de los tiempos en la narrativa hispanoamericana en general. Es una transición entre siglos bien representada en los grandes novelistas del siglo XX y el comienzo del XXI, que fueron Jose Donoso y Roberto Bolaño. Carlos Franz estudió Leyes y sociología, y ha vivido en Berlín, Roma y Madrid.

His contemporary narrative is able to express the spirit of today’s Iberoamerican narrative. Franz has masterfully transitioned from the 20th to the 21st century as represented by the works of José Donoso and Roberto Bolaño. Carlos Franz studied Law and sociology, and has lived in Berlin, Rome and Madrid.

Es uno de los poetas contemporáneos latinoamericanos más reconocidos. La presentación corre a cargo de Ben Heller, profesor de la Universidad de Notre Dame y traductor de Barrientos al inglés. Después de los eventos trágicos de 1973, Barrientos dejó Chile para radicarse en Estados Unidos. Su obra elude las categorías consabidas: Latinoamericano, Latino, Norteamericano. Todo eso, y más.

Barrientos is one of the most recognized contemporary Latin American poets. The presentation will be conducted by Ben Heller, Professor at the University of Notre Dame and Barriento’s translator to English. After the tragic events of 1973, Barrientos left Chile and established himselef in the United States. Barrientos work transcends the typical stereotypes of Latin American, Latino and American works.
English interpretation available at all the events.
