Sin lugar a dudas, el ocho de febrero es una fecha que debería estar grabada en la memoria colectiva de los chilenos, ya que es la conmemoración del Día Nacional de la Piscola, brebaje que protagoniza cada una de las fiestas del país.

Tanto así, que al momento de preguntar ¿Cuál es el trago que habitualmente consume en alguna fiesta?, la respuesta es inminente y prácticamente automática: el combinado nacional.

Art exhibit “Francisco Bores: paintings in homage to Lorca”, works of one of the Spanish masters of the 20th. Century inspired in Garcia Lorca’s poems. –

Presented by Laura Garcia Lorca and Osvaldo Golijov.

Opening: February 6, 6:30 p.m. Exhibition continues until March 28

“Lorca and Keaton”, Blair Thomas presents “Buster Keaton’s Stroll”, a puppeteer performance based in Lorca’s absurdist tale about the movie star.

Afterwards, there will be a film screening of Keaton’s movie “Sherlock, Jr.”, with music by S. Prutsman.

With the occasion of the presentation of Osvaldo Golijov’s Opera Ainadamar at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, is joining efforts with the CSO to present a program dedicated to celebrate Federico Garcia Lorca’s work, through music, dance and lectures. The second presentation of the new Chamber Series at the National Museum of Mexican Art will pair members of the Chicago Sinfonietta string section, featuring violinist James Sanders, with guitar virtuoso Alfonso Ponticelli and Swing Gitan. Guitarra! will explore the influence of the Spanish guitar on the folk and classical music of Mexico.

Enjoy delicious food and beverages during the reception, view Museum exhibits, and hear delightful music all in one evening for only $15. Sinfonietta subscribers and NMMA members are just $10!
